A Small Glimpse at
100,000 Poets for Change Activism

On September 24, 2011, a vibrant grassroots movement emerged around the world as poets, musicians and artists came together to promote serious social, environmental and political change. From the idea of two people--Michael Rothenberg II and Terri Carrion--came 700 events in 550 cities in 95 countries.

The viewpoints and goals of the various cities and individual event producers vary greatly, but the connecting force is for the creative communities of the world--poets, musicians, artists of all kinds--to come together to express a desire for a kinder, cleaner and more just Earth for everyone. Perhaps through these events, ideas will become action, and action will create the sort of change that builds rather than destroys.

Houston has participated since 2013 with events throughout the area with both 100 Thousand Poets for Change and 100 Thousand Musicians for Change.

100 Thousand Poets for Change is not about one day in a year, however. It is about effecting positive change throughout the year, throughout the world.
